Chinese Medicine Insights from “Chinese Medicine People”

The following are the TCM insights of “I”, not one person, but a category of people.

Environment

In the hard times of the past, TCM was passed on and perpetuated by its efficacy, not by its so-called “cultural identity”. Today, TCM has become one of the preferred medical systems for patients and has become one of the most widely used traditional therapies internationally, also growing by its efficacy.

As a TCM practitioner, I am sure that before embarking on this path, I have given it a lot of thought, considered the future and the prospects, and rarely had the impulse to do so. But things change and things may not turn out as you wish, but no matter what, you should not question TCM, but believe in it.

It is safe to say that the profession of TCM is like the rising sun with a promising future. If you repent and change course midway because of some negative effects of TCM, then it is really a pity and only shows that you do not have a full understanding of TCM and its status. Natural healing as represented by TCM is becoming more and more prevalent, and is not something that can be easily extinguished by some negative slurs.

In recent decades, mainstream Western medicine has undergone a quiet, but profound change in the West. Alternative medicine has begun to gain popularity for its ability to address people’s physical and mental ailments, and Chinese medicine is one of the fastest growing of these dozens of alternative medicines. Westerners have discovered that the Western medical model is difficult to use in the field of mind and body, and that the “inadequacies” and “superstitions” of Chinese medicine that are now being attacked may be able to lift the curtain on science and Western medicine.

According to incomplete statistics, the number of people using complementary and alternative medicine in the United States surged from 428 million in 1990 to 629 million in 1997. And the number of doctor visits was 388 million in 1990 and 386 million in 1997. This indicates that the use of complementary and alternative medicine in Western countries is increasing year by year and has gradually caught up with the use of Western medicine.

It is foreseeable that Chinese medicine, which has been tested in practice, will be the new favorite of health care in the world in the future.

You may say: “Western countries are fine without TCM”. But do you know how much they lose in economic losses a year for the wrong use of surgery for patients who do not need it? Do you know how much they pay for the misuse of antibiotics?

From another business perspective, some industries can have significant ups and downs, and others can be extremely short-lived, but Chinese medicine is a relatively smooth industry. It doesn’t make you rich quickly, but over time, you will reap the rewards and most importantly, you will be rich physically and mentally.

Doctor and patient

1, medicine is a lifelong course of diligent learning, you are a small step behind, the gap is a big step. As the famous doctor Jiang Sichang said: the practice of medicine is a hard work, people who want to be comfortable and relaxed, it is best not to read medicine. Without consistent persistence, it is impossible to become a truly qualified doctor.

2, as a doctor, skills are important, but more important is the medical ethics. Having virtue without talent may not contribute to society, but it will not cause harm; on the contrary a person with talent without virtue will bring great damage to society. A doctor, even if he has great ability, without virtue, he can not be called a qualified doctor. But medical ethics, too, does not require you to completely give up the pursuit of profit, but requires you to be able to earn unjust money by means of inducement, deception, intimidation, etc.

3, doctors need profit to survive, so we can treat the practice of medicine also as a business, as long as it does not violate the conscience, any commercial business means can be introduced, as long as you can face the patients with a clear conscience, there is no problem with how much money you earn, the key is to find a balance, or a combination, between treating patients and earning money. Accumulate a certain amount of merit and virtue, wealth will also naturally come from the source.

4, as a doctor, everything should be more for the sake of patients, money can buy a lot of things, but can not buy peace of mind. Problems that can be easily solved for patients are never complicated. The increase of wealth can not be achieved by any means, and even if it is achieved, it will not last long.

5, to put the patient first, each patient is a learning material. A patient a medical record, is a story. Some special patients are rare experience, will let you understand a lot of the truth of being a person.

6, to often think, you did the right thing? Did you do a good job? How much did you do for the patient? The patient’s healing is the highest reward. As long as you can fully obtain the trust and understanding of patients, to eliminate their pain and reduce the burden of medical care, these are more important than anything else.

7, “A good word is warm in three winters, but a bad word is cold in June”. A word from a doctor is an emotional baton for a patient. It can be torment, can be confidence, can be warm, can be a blow …… so the doctor must not believe in nonsense, must be reasonable, affectionate and patient.

8, a survey shows that 95% of the feedback from patients are not medical problems, but are caused by insufficient communication between doctors and patients. This shows the importance of communication. Doctors are a noble profession, since you choose to be a doctor, you are also chosen by the patient, in this process of mutual choice, all you can do is to embrace with the patient in courtesy, believe in sincerity, insist and strive to be a good doctor.

Risk prevention

1, the medical industry is a very strong business, risky industry, a little carelessness may have to bear a huge amount of compensation, so that you lost all your money. There are many reasons for these risks, but errors are the biggest enemy in our work, and the biggest reason for our errors is often carelessness. So the work must pay attention to detail, meticulous inspection, do not greedy lazy, falsification.

2, of course, do not exclude the manipulation of some ulterior motives, so that doctors can not prevent, no matter how to deal with, the doctor is the biggest loser. A doctor once said: “As a doctor, always keep in mind that one foot in the hospital, one foot in court”.

3, at work, we should not only keep learning various medical techniques, but also learn superb communication skills and good self-protection awareness. Should be prudent to estimate and deal with possible medical problems and disputes, prepare to perfect and firmly implement the necessary, reasonable and legal procedures and documents. To operate in strict accordance with the treatment routine and focus on leaving relevant evidence.

4, when the lawsuit comes to your door, you should face it calmly, analyze things carefully, find out the crux of the matter, and consult with legal experts, never have the idea of resting on your laurels, otherwise one wrong step will make you lose everything.
