Gua Sha has gone viral, taking over TikTok feeds as the hottest new at-home face-sculpting technique in skincare.
Interestingly enough, it’s been around for a very long time. Gua Sha is actually a staple of traditional Chinese medicine, so it’s been used for centuries in practices like acupuncture. It’s a scraping technique to move around energy, improve circulation and help your body rid itself of toxins. When used on the face, you can reap all those benefits plus a snatched jaw line, defined cheekbones and depuffed eyes.
I truthfully had no idea where to start, so I brought in an expert, Giselle Wasfie, who is the founder of REMIX Acupuncture and a doctor of Eastern medicine. From her upbringing to her career as an editor at one of the biggest beauty magazines, she’s always believed in ancient, natural remedies.
“You’re seeing a lot more interest in wellness, natural medicine, you know, remedies that have been used for thousands of years in other parts of the world. So I think it’s just that we are now kind of understanding the power of, you know, self-care, number one, and putting more effort into ourselves.”
First, we started off with breaking down the benefits of the basic gua sha tool. Then, Giselle took me a step further with the Re:Wand tool and the results were instant. In a matter of minutes, I was releasing jaw and headache tension that’s been bothering me for months!
